Express method for determination of mineral inclusions in ore charge

Determination of the grain size of useful minerals in the ore (inclusiveness) on the stream is an important characteristic that affects the grade of ore according to the enrichment criterion.
The method is based on determining the magnitude of the coercive force (the width of the magnetic hysteresis loop), the magnitude of which is inversely proportional to the size of the mineral particles.

If magnetic minerals (for example, iron magnetite ores) are a useful component in the ore, then this method will quickly (without the use of microscopy) determine the grain size of useful minerals and, consequently, the grade of the ore according to the enrichment criterion. If the useful component in the ore is non-magnetic minerals (for example, nickel-containing pentlandite), then this method will allow you to quickly (without using microscopy) determine the grain size of useful minerals, if their inclusiveness correlates with the size of magnetic minerals. This is often observed because the inclusiveness of magnetic pyrrhotite correlates with the inclusiveness of nickel-containing minerals.

The created mock-up of the hardware and software complex additionally contained means of controlling the material composition (nickel-copper) based on X-ray fluorescence analysis.
The express method was tested at the industrial Kola site of MMC PJSC NORILSK NICKEL during the control of skip ore before it was sent to the advanced factory.
