Evgeny Petrov was born on October 4, 1979 in Yakutsk (Republic of Sakha (Yakutia).

Graduated from the Faculty of Geology of Moscow State University. M.V. Lomonosov.

PhD in Physics and Mathematics, Master of Business Administration at the Stockholm School of Economics.

In the period from 1999 to 2005, he worked in various positions in the service company PetroAlliance OJSC, where he was responsible for the development and implementation of new technologies for drilling, offshore and land seismic surveys.

From 2005 to 2014, he held senior positions in oil and gas companies, was responsible for geological exploration, development of the resource base and implementation of the technical scheme for field development.

Since 2014, he has worked in various positions at the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Ecology of the Russian Federation.

Since 2020, he continued to work at the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use, first as a deputy head, then as an interim head.

In 2021, he was appointed head of the Federal Agency for Subsoil Use by Order of the Chairman of the Government of the Russian Federation dated November 11, 2021 No. 3154-r.

In the course of his professional activities, he taught courses and conducted research activities in the field of geological exploration and geological and economic assessment of onshore and offshore oil and gas fields. He has more than 65 publications and 8 international certificates.
